Boyle secures second term as Green Party Cathaoirleach

Statement by Dan Boyle
Senator is looking forward to the challenge
Green Party members have voted to elect Senator Dan Boyle to the role of Party Cathaoirleach for a second term. Senator Boyle said he looked forward to the challenge of the role over the next two years.
Senator Boyle said: “I’m honoured to be given the opportunity to continue as Cathaoirleach of the Green Party / Comhaontas Glas. I want to especially thank the other candidates Trish Forde Brennan and JJ Power for the excellent campaigns they ran and for offering the Party a real choice. I look forward to the Party working together to meet the real challenges that lie ahead of us and the country over the coming months.”
Ballots were counted by preferendum with a first preference vote securing three points, a second preference vote two points and a third preference vote one point. Senator Dan Boyle secured 1478 points, Trish Forde Brennan 1239, and JJ Power 1201. A total of 683 ballots were cast.
The responsibilities of the Cathaoirleach include chairing meetings at national convention, and chairing meetings related to electoral and party strategy.
