Budget 2005 is a ?Pork Barrel? attempt to pass Disability Bill

The Green Party has accused the Government of playing Pork Barrel politics in an attempt to pass the Disability Bill, which is currently before the Dáil.

The Green Party?s Equality spokesperson, Ciarán Cuffe TD, stated today:

?The Disability Bill has attracted sustained criticism by many Disability Groups. Instead of providing genuine rights to people with disabilities the Government is trying to buy support for the Bill by allocating a ?300 million budget for Capital Projects.

People with disabilities deserve rights rather than handouts, but this budget is a crude attempt to buy the passage of the Bill.?
