Parliamentary Party endorses Eamon Ryan as presidential candidate
The Green Party Parliamentary Party today agreed to propose Eamon Ryan TD to its National Council for ratification as the Green Party?s presidential candidate, subject to the National Council being satisfied that the necessary resources can be made available for such a campaign.
The National Council of the Green Party will meet in Clonakility Co. Cork this Saturday, 18th September.
Speaking after the Parliamentary Party meeting, Green Party/ Comhaontas Glas Leader Trevor Sargent TD said that the party was very fortunate to have a potential candidate of the calibre of Eamon Ryan. ?Eamon is a young and articulate family man and he presents a clear vision of how Ireland needs to change if it is to realise its full potential and be sustainable in the future. Eamon is a strong and passionate communicator of a Green vision for Ireland and the Green Party is very fortunate to have a potential candidate of his calibre.?
Green Party Chairman John Gormley TD added that he had worked closely with Eamon Ryan TD in Dublin South East over many years and that Eamon Ryan had succeeded John Gormley on Dublin City Council. ?I have no doubt Eamon would be an excellent candidate and indeed a first-class President to represent a new Ireland which can provide a proper quality of life for all its people,? said Deputy Gormley.
