A life long environmentalist, Councillor Cadogan Enright joined the Green Party in the mid 1990's over his concerns regarding climate change, was a founder member of the Green Party both Downpatrick and in South Down. He was Director of Elections in both the 2005 local elections and also the 2007 assembly elections when he was election agent for successful Green Party MLA Brian Wilson. Cadogan replaced Councillor Bill Corry when he retired in 2007.

Cadogan Enright is an FCCA with postgraduate qualifications in building standards and energy management, and was one of the founding members of Downpatrick NGO Sustainable Development Ltd., which promotes environmentally friendly building standards and small-scale renewable energy.

The issue at the top the agenda for Cllr Enright since entering the Council chamber is Co. Down's poor performance in terms of carbon emissions and energy saving.

Married to Brenda for 27 years, the Enright's have five children, the eldest, Peter (24) stood as a Green Party candidate earlier this year, while the youngest is 18-months-old. They have three daughters in full-time education.
