That Dáil Éireann,
given the meeting of the leaders of the G8 countries being held in Edinburgh, Scotland and given subsequent meetings being held for the UN Millennium Summit in New York and meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank in September 2005 and the World Trade Organisation ministerial conference in December 2005
calls on the Irish Government through its own policies to assist in making poverty history and to this end

Ireland is now second only to the UK in the European league table for childhood asthma. Unfortunately, the response from successive governments to this growing problem has been less than adequate. Now that the biggest ever research project into the causes of allergy
and asthma has been launched in the European Union, this government has an opportunity to identify some of the root causes for allergy and asthma and to begin a coordinated approach to tackling the problem.
This Green Party discussion document puts forward a number of constructive proposals which we hope the government will act upon.

Our capital should be a cosmopolitan centre of European culture, internationally recognised for its high quality public services and for well-designed, compact, new urban quarters, welcoming to immigrants and confident in its own identity
