De Burca happy that Programme for Government commitment has been delivered
The Green Party's health spokesperson Senator Deirdre De Burca today welcomed the Minister for Health's confirmation that the cervical cancer vaccination programme will be introduced in 2010.
Senator de Burcs said: "The Minister's announcement today that the cervical cancer vaccination programme will begin this year is extremely welcome. The Green Party ensured that the Government's commitment to this important programme was included in the renewed Programme for Government, agreed last October. I am glad that this commitment has been honoured."
"This year approximately 30,000 girls in first year in secondary school will receive a HPV vaccination. This is a very welcome development," she added.
