Polasaithe

Welcome to the policy and research pages of the Green Party website.

The Green Party takes pride in its focus on innovative policies and solutions. The National Council is the main policy forum to which new and revised policy proposals are introduced for ratification.

Dáil Constituency Groups are organised on a countrywide constituency basis. Virtually all policy decisions have to be circulated to DCGs, and agreed by them. Subsequently, each DCG is entitled to send a delegate to the National Council meetings, which meet at least four times per year to discuss and adopt policy.

Many members and friends of the Party are engaged in on-going debates on new solutions to the range of challenges facing Irish society. In the course of drawing up new policy proposals we also engage with an array of academic, civil society and other professional bodies.

Our research and policy staff play an active role in supporting the policy development process.

As a member of the Party you can become involved in a number of ways. You can:

  1. Contact the Convenor of an existing policy group;
  2. Launch a new policy debate and, perhaps, convening a new policy group;
  3. Join the online forum (members only);
  4. Contact the research department to identify policy gaps or new and relevant research.
