Meath East By-Election Candidate Announced: Seán Ó Buachalla Green Party Communications | 05.03.2013 | Back to News | News Archive
Party Leader Eamon Ryan today announced Green Party Candidate for Meath East by-election later this month: “We are pleased to announce Seán Ó Buachalla will stand as Green Party Candidate in the Meath-East by-election on March 27th.”
Seán Ó Buachalla is a youth club development officer with a keen understanding of youth, community and public facility issues in Meath and has a proven track-record in community activism.
“I am standing in this election to offer an alternative to the people of Meath East to the old ways of operating and the unrealistic approach of being opposed to everything that the current government does. I commit to a role of positive opposition; I’m not going to say ‘No’ just for the sake of it, but rather give credit where it’s due and criticise in an effort to improve and heighten standards of reform.” Seán Ó Buachalla today said.
Seán Ó Buachalla initiated the campaign to have a new gaelscoil recognised in South-East Meath, which ultimately saw the recent official recognition of Gaelscoil na Mí as a new school primary school for that area. He currently sits on the Board of Management of that school.
Seán Ó Buachalla stood for the Party in the 2007 and 2011 General elections and the 2009 Local Elections.
