Biography
Frank and his wife Margaret have been married for 35 years, they have 3 daughters and 3 grandchildren. Born in Donnycarney he moved to Balbriggan in 1992. A printer by trade he managed his own business during the 1980’s before joining FAS in 1991 as a print instructor. In 1997 he retrained as a Career Guidance Councilor (NUI) working for FAS Employment Services in D’Olier Street. In 1998 he was given the task to develop a FAS office in Balbriggan. Up to his arrival in Balbriggan the service was part time, a sub office from the Swords FAS office. Over the next 10 years Frank has been responsible for developing this clinic into the fully fledged office it is today.
Seeing the lack of local services available to the people of Balbriggan,Frank proposed and successfully campaigned to FAS to bring training courses to Balbriggan. Over the last 4 years the number of Balbriggan courses has increased to 12 per year with a choice of 6 programs ranging from Basic Computers to Fork Lift and Warehouse training. This year has seen the first FAS Night Class run outside of a FAS Training Centre, been held in Balbriggan.
In both his personal and working life he has fought the case of People with Disabilities. He regularly gives talks to Disability Groups informing them of their entitlements and the services available to them.
On completing a Diploma in Assistive Technology (UCD) in 2007, Frank went on to developed a training program to assist People with Disabilities return to the work force. The program was very successful with 50% of the students progressing into the work force.
