Green Party Leader reacts to the conclusion of the Climate Action Committee Report

Green Party Leader Eamon Ryan TD said:

“I am proud of our report which I think is of some significance. The process involving advisors and outside experts worked well.

“While the members divided on some key issues it was an impressive collaborative effort. The key thing now will be to help turn the ideas into action.

“This committee will continue until the end of the year. We should have a key role in analysing the new National Energy and Climate Action Plan that the Government has to agree with the European Commission by December. I think what we have done is a good model of how a parliament can engage in such a policy process.

“I am especially proud of the role our party played in establishing the citizens assembly on climate change and this committee.”
