Green Party welcomes newly co-opted councillors.

After the record success of electing twelve TD’s in #GE2020, we’re delighted to welcome ten new councillors to the party this year.

Following the co-option of Karen Power to Joe O’Brien‘s seat on Fingal County Council in January, an additional nine new councillors were co-opted at ceremonies in their local councils this week.

Having already been active in their local groups, and with varied backgrounds ranging from activism, campaigning for access rights, farming, and communications, our newly co-opted councillors will bring plenty of experience and an exciting, fresh perspective to the Green Party council teams.

It’s also great to see that, since nine of our ten new councillors are female, the gender balance of elected representatives across the party is now evenly split.
