The Green Party has welcomed two new councillors this week. Susan Crawford has been selected for a seat in Clare County Council in the Ennistymon LEA, and Colm Kenny has been selected for a seat Kildare County Council in the Naas LEA. The two new Councillors are replacing Roisín Garvey and Vincent P Martin respectively, who were recently nominated for the Seanad.
Susan Crawford is an autism activist with a PhD in Fundamental Movement Skills and Autism and is a two-time Fulbright Award winner for her work on autism awareness. She was recently named Clare Person of Year after she ran the 2,500km Wild Atlantic Way with her son Tomás, delivering Autism Awareness workshops in each county on the route as part of her Get Autism Active programme.
Colm Kenny is a medical laboratory scientist in Naas General Hospital. He is a cycling enthusiast and likes to go gliding over the Kildare countryside, crediting this unique view of Ireland’s landscapes for his love of nature and passion for environmental activism. He’s also known for having co-founded the Naas Serpents, the town’s basketball team.
