Eamon Ryan TD said. “We will be supportive of further restrictions on air and sea travel onto the island of Ireland should the relevant health authorities decide it should be a necessary part of our strategy to suppress the virus.”
“Obviously such restrictions would have to be flexible. We must continue to ship vital food and medical supplies and allow for people to return home if they are stranded overseas, but it makes no sense to have unrestricted air and sea travel when we are telling people they cannot move more than 2km from their own home.
“Whatever restrictions are put in place it makes sense to implement them on an all-island basis so the curtailment of infection works for all our people, regardless of which jurisdiction they live within.”
