Greens call on Government not to cut cycling office

Green Party Leader Eamon Ryan said today:

“The Government should reconsider their decision to shut down Dublin City Council’s cycling office.

We have had great success in recent years increasing the numbers of people cycling in our city.  That has saved us all a fortune as it cut the level of congestion and pollution, as it made people healthier and helped them save time and money.

Rather than building on that success the Government seems determined not to renew the contract for the Dublin City Cycling Officer. It shows their lack of commitment to sustainable transport and their lack of imagination in knowing nothing other than a slash and burn approach to the job they have to do.”
