Introducing Roderic O’Gorman TD

Roderic O’Gorman is TD for Dublin West, where he was elected in 2020. Prior to this, he was a Councillor on Fingal County Council for six years, serving the Castleknock local electoral area.

Roderic has been involved with the Green Party for many years, first canvassing for Trevor Sargent during the 1992 General Election. He served the party in various roles, including as party Chair between 2011 to 2019. As a Councillor, he was a member of the Council’s Transportation Committee and the Fingal Joint Policing Committee, and served on the boards of management for five local schools.

Before being elected as a TD, he lectured in Law at Dublin City University.

As Justice Spokesperson, Roderic will work to create a modern, progressive justice system. That means a compassionate approach to immigration, and an end to the inhumanity of the Direct Provision system. It means ensuring that correctional action taken against criminals is focused on rehabilitation and preventing repeat offences, while recognising that the root causes of crime can lie in disadvantage and lack of opportunity. It also means working to lessen the immense emotional, physical and financial stress for victims of crime.
