Karen Furlong co-opted to Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council

The Green Party today announced that Karen Furlong has been co-opted to Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council, following Catherine Martin’s election to Dáil Éireann.

Ms. Furlong was successful in a selection convention among Green Party members in the Dundrum Local Electoral Ward, and was ratified at last night’s meeting of Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council.

Speaking following her selection, Cllr. Furlong said: “I’m honoured to be selected from such outstanding candidates to represent the Dundrum Ward on the County Council. I have lived in Dundrum all my life and have deep roots in this community. I believe I can bring both energy and commitment to this very important role.”

Green Party Deputy Leader Catherine Martin TD said: “I’m delighted that Karen is joining our team of Councillors to replace me following my election in Dublin Rathdown. I’m confident that Karen will do fine work on the Council, and will represent our constituents with distinction. We now have a Green team representing the area, and I’m looking forward to working with Karen.”
