We’re delighted to welcome three new councillors to the party following co-options in recent weeks.
Susan Gallagher is a civil engineer with experience in water supply and conservation. She works as a lecturer in Waterford Institute of Technology and is the current chairperson of Engineers Ireland South East Region. She also currently volunteers with Calmast, WIT’s science outreach group, and STEPS, Engineers Ireland’s outreach programme.
Niall Murphy is a software engineer and spent his earlier years working on designing lung ventilators. Later, he worked on messaging and video conferencing systems for Cisco. Both areas have been very much in the public eye of late due to Covid-19 and Ireland’s lockdown. Outside of work, he spends time coaching hurling and athletics as well as occasionally organizing cycling events.
Dearbhail Butler worked for 20+ years as a solution focused manager in the international financial industry. Three years ago she decided to return to education to study Community Development at Coláiste Dhulaigh and has been working closely across her community ever since. She began working with Cllr. Lawrence Hemmings as a constituency officer in 2019, becoming the main point of contact for residents and working as the liaison between constituents, DCC and other third parties.
