Eoin Hallissey

Candidate for Clane LEA

About Me

Hello, my name is Eoin Hallissey and I am your Green Party candidate for the Clane Local Electoral Area in 2019’s Local Elections. Originally from Dublin, I now live in Donadea, where I am laying down roots with my fiancé Ashleigh and our dog, Ispín. As a daily commuter to Dublin who has grown very protective of the green expanses of Kildare, I understand the issues we all face in the Clane area today.

You will often find me in Donadea Forest and I am a founding member of the Donadea Ploggers forest clean-up group. I am an avid cyclist, cycling Malin to Mizen Head to fundraise for the Jack & Jill Foundation in 2018. I am also a hiker, amateur chef and Junior Gaelic footballer.

Priorities and Aims for the Clane area

    • Transport – leaving the car at home. Establish reliable, fairly priced public transport from the Clane area to Sallins, Kilcock and
Maynooth. Prioritise bus and bike infrastructure, reducing traffic on the Kilcock-Clane-Sallins Road and allowing Clane commuters to leave the car at
    • Protecting Kildare’s Wildlife. Protecting our natural habitat and landscape in an ever-expanding Kildare. From public forests to
hedgerows and everything in between, I aim to protect Kildare from ill-managed sprawl. Our green spaces are crucial to our wildlife, our quality of
life and our livelihoods, and I will prioritise them in all aspects of planning. We can use the National Pollinator Plan as a first step in managing
Council land for the benefit of our wildlife and our planet
    • Community Investment. I will prioritise and promote local investment in the Clane area. Kildare residents need not feel their only
option is to commute to Dublin for work. People working as well as living in their own communities can be Kildare’s future. It is best for both our
environment and our quality of life.

My Vision

Sustainable development is the root of all my aims. Meeting our needs today without compromising the future of those who come after us. Kildare County Council has had no Green Party councillor for ten years.

I am asking you to please give me your Number 1 vote in May’s elections and give the Clane area a much-needed Green voice.
