Connecting communities is key!

I am a business owner with a background in international business. Originally from rural New Zealand, I have worked with international shipping companies all over the world. I now apply my management skills to my community, facilitating training on equity, diversity and inclusion and helping the realisation of private sector efficiencies in the public realm.

My priorities

Active travel in rural communities: I will work to provide satisfactory bus stops and bike parking, logical footpaths and crossings that make walking safer and more enjoyable, and to advocate for improved transport services for our towns and villages.

Vacant homes register: There is a massive gap between properties declared vacant by property owners and those reported empty by CSO census collectors. I will work with the local government to resurrect empty and derelict buildings over shops, in urban, and rural locations to make safe and affordable housing for all.

Gort Kinvara has a landscape as diverse as our people: I will work with local community groups to ensure good stewardship of our natural resources, especially our waterways, our coastal areas, the protection of our native species, and the promotion of environmentally sound practices.

Experience

I have volunteered in education, health, the arts and refugee resettlement. During lockdown I took part in the Immigrant Council of Ireland Migrant Leadership Academy and officially became a Migrant Activist.

Having voted “Green” in 3 countries already, I joined the Green Party in 2021 after a call out for rurally based migrant women. I am an active volunteer holding trustee roles in a number of organisations, including secretary of Burren Lowlands, and chairperson of both the local parents' council and Mná Glasa.

Help my campaign

We need volunteers on the ground to canvass, deliver leaflets and take part in local events. You can come along to one of our branch meetings if you’re interested in getting involved. Get in touch with me or e-mail galway@greenparty.ie to find out more.

Donations allow me to connect with people and get the message of social equality and climate action out there. Please donate to help me work towards a better future for us all.
