Green Party endorses Catherine Connolly in Presidential Election

Greens laud Deputy Connolly’s highlighting of Gaza Genocide and Climate Change in her campaign

The Green Party National Executive have today endorsed the candidacy of Deputy Catherine Connolly in the Presidential Election. The decision follows an extensive consultation with Party members, elected representatives and spokespersons.

Welcoming the decision, Green Party Leader Roderic O’Gorman TD stated:

“As the final line up of candidates in the Presidential Election becomes clear, the Green Party today endorses Catherine Connolly for this Office. Deputy Connolly has a long track record of advocacy for vulnerable and marginalised groups within Irish society. We have no doubt that she will continue to give voice to these groups if she is elected. As a Party, we have been particularly impressed with how Catherine has placed advocacy against the genocide in Gaza, and the issue of climate change, at the centre of her election campaign”.

Green Party Chairperson Cllr Janet Horner stated:

"Catherine has emphasised the themes of community, inclusion, peace and climate throughout her campaign. These are issues at the core of the Green Party's values and we know that Catherine will bring them to the heart of her Presidency. She has shown her commitment to ensuring the voices and perspectives of communities are heard and celebrated through the Presidency. This will be absolutely essential as we navigate the complexities of the Just Transition in the years ahead".
